Red Apollo Group CEO Rick Attended Festival du Cinéma Chinois en France (FCCF)

On May 15th, 2017, 7th Festival du cinema chinois en France started. Red Apollo Group CEO, Rick Zhang was invited as a special guest for this year's festival. 7th Festival du Cinéma chinois en France was held by State Administration of Press, Centre Culturel Chine and Path. M. YAN Zhenquan, Directeur du Centre Culturel de Chine Paris introduced this event. During his speech, he mentioned that Festival du Cinéma Chinois en France has already made a major impact in French society. The purpose of holding this event, not only showing the recently most successful Chinese theatrical films to French audiences who would love to know about China, but also they would like to open up the potential cooperation in film market between France and China. Nowadays, France has become the biggest Chinese films distributor and the country that understand China the most. Meanwhile, Juliette Binoche, Oscar 'Best supporting actress', was guest of honor of this year's Festival du Cinémaa Chinois en France.

Red Apollo Group Premier in Beijing, China

Red Apollo Group premiered its newly acquired French Comedy Raid Dingue to China. Raid Dingue has had major success in France, remaining in the top three for the month of February 2017. The premiere was hosted by Red Apollo Group and Lens Media at the Beijing International Film Festival. The President of French Union of Culture, the CEO of Red Apollo Group, the director Dany Boon and main actress Alice Pol were present for this event. During the Q&A section, Rick Zhang, the CEO of Red Apollo Group shared his opinion about the need of international films in China as well as this future status of this market. Meanwhile, the President of French Union of Culture summarized the increased activity of French films in China, he mentioned that in order to make French films stand out from this Hollywood lead industry, French films would like to do it through more subtle ways. Beside Raid Dingue, four other films that have been brought into China by Red Apollo Group are, The Kings Choice, Family Heist, The Infiltrator, and Florence Foster Jenkins. Red Apollo Group enjoyed being a part of this event, and is working hard to bring more great films to China.

Raid dingue, a French film released on February 1st, 2017 by Pathé has had tremendous success in its opening weekend raking in $8,648,678, nearly double what last week's top film Sing brought in with $4,550,528. Raid dingue is the story of Alice Pol, a female trainee that is integrated into an elite team known as R.A.I.D. (Recherche. Assistance. Intervention. Dissuasion.) much to the chagrin of Eugene Froissard played by lead actor and director of the film, Dany Boon. Dany Boon has directed other films such as Supercondriaque in 2014 and Nothing to Declare in 2011, both of which had huge success, breaking opening week box office records. Red Apollo Group acquired Raid dingue in December 2016, and we are thrilled with the success it's had so far.

Florence Foster Jenkins Nominated for Four Golden Globes

In June of 2016 Red Apollo Group purchased Florence Foster Jenkins, a movie about the life of a New York heiress who dreamed of becoming an opera singer, despite being having a terrible singing voice. It has since been Nominated for Four Golden Globes for: Best Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. It also has nominations at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, The St. Louis Film Critics Association, and the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards.

The King's Choice on the Short List for Best Foreign Language Film

Earlier this year Red Apollo purchased The King’s Choice, a movie about a king’s choice to keep his country fighting against Germany in WWII has been nominated Norway’s choice for Best Foreign Language Film. From a total of 85 movies, it is on the shortlist to be a contender in the 2017 Academy Awards. As of now it and 8 other movies are competing for the 5 slots available. It will be a close race, but one that we will be keeping a close eye on.

Colonia Featured at 4th Festival of German Cinema in China

From November 11 – 24th the 4th Festival of German Cinema will be in Beijing, Chengdu, and Shenzhen.

Here, German Films and the Goethe – Institute are hosting, giving German filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work.

The purpose here is to not only present the wonderful films featured here, but to also bring German and Chinese filmmakers together to promote potential working relationships, and future collaboration.
